about

I wrote this after SXSW many years ago. Pulled it off the shelf recently when a friend spoke about the conflict between making music and promoting music.

lyrics

Playing at dress up with the family back at home
Living in long lines but never in the front
Then when it's over you fly back up again
The afternoon's empty hours without friends

And then suddenly I'm fine
almost every day breaking down the sky
I got time to hear that shine
So much sound appears filling up the quiet

The stages are empty cept for costumes and the spark
of something remembered before you hit your mark
The skills you need inside this bar
Are not the kind you need to find another song
